Awards

On 30 October 2017, at the Trophées de la Gastronomie (Gastronomy Awards), Jacques Decoret won the prestigious “Chef de l’année” (Chef of the Year) award for France.

2017 was a milestone year for Maison Decoret and a year of renewed momentum. Jacques Decoret won the Chef of the Year award for France, the highest honour of the 12 awards presented by the president of the awards, Chef Marc Veyrat, at the 10th Trophée at the 10th Trophées de la Gastronomie et des Vins at the Palais de la Bourse in Lyon.

On 2 June 2017, Jacques Decoret was rewarded the Gold Medal for Tourism by Jean-Michel Chavarochette, President of the Union des Métiers et des Industries de l'Hôtellerie (Union of Trades and Industries of the Hospitality Sector) and Claude Malhuret, Senator for Vichy.

As the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Allier, he and his wife Martine have developed Vichy’s reputation as an essential culinary destination. Internationally recognised, present in all French guides, he is an incredible ambassador for Vichy.

On 10 April 2017, Jacques and Martine Decoret were awarded the Gault & Millau d’Or as part of the Gault & Millau Tour for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Every year, the Gault & Millau Tour showcases 6 French regions. The aim is to reward the most talented chefs in these regions and to shine a spotlight on their restaurants by promoting their cuisine and their expertise.

The Gault & Millau d’Or, the highest honour of the 12 awards, rewards Maison Decoret’s vision and continuing progress as it aims to make a contribution to French culinary history and to enhance the reputation of Vichy and Auvergne. According to Marc Esquerré, editor-in-chief of the guide, “for almost 10 years in his beautiful property in Vichy, Jacques Decoret’s unconventional nature has won our hearts with his freedom of expression, his originality and his precision”.

As the only holder of the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France award in Auvergne and the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Allier, Jacques Decoret is a stalwart of the French culinary scene who is inspired by the contrasts of his native Auvergne.

These three awards have encouraged us to continue the important work of the last two years to give Maison Decoret a new dimension: to embody the identity and complexity of our region through exciting combinations of food, wine and water.
